About Us
The Washington State Sri Lankan Tamil Association (WSSTA) is a 501(c) non-profit cultural organization incorporated in the State of Washington.
Our mission is to promote Tamil culture and traditions, provide opportunities for the younger generations of Sri Lankan Tamils in Washington State to learn about their history, traditions, values, and culture, and improve the welfare of Sri Lankan Tamils both in Washington State and in Sri Lanka.
Our goals include:
- Cultivating, promoting, and fostering the advancement of knowledge in Tamil language, literature, culture, music, and art;
- Promoting the education, study, and appreciation of Tamil language and culture among the younger generations of Sri Lankan Tamils in Washington State;
- Providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and promoting common interests that concern the Sri Lankan Tamil community in Washington State; and
- Fostering the welfare and addressing humanitarian issues of Tamils in Sri Lanka, and acting upon charitable causes concerning the welfare of the Tamil community in Sri Lanka.
